SuccessFactors doesn't save bookmarks in big courses?

Jun 15, 2020

Hello guys, I have a problem with my LO on SFs LMS, here is the list of the features of the course:

- the SCORM 2004 4th edition package is 97M (.zip)
- the course is composed by 68 slides in a linear branching scheme: Module 1, Test 1; Module 2, Test 2 til Mod 4, Test 4
- the Test sessions are the simplest possible: pick-one until you get the right answer and go on, no % to reach, no result page
- the content slides only offer MP4 videos in the timeline (it's a course derived from another existing course)
- the slides have all the same conf: When revisiting: Reset to initial state, Player features: Seekbar
- the Player has this conf: Seekbar: allow drag after completion; Menu navigation: restricted (+ Restrict Next / Previous button); Resume: Always resume
- Publish settings: LMS reporting: Completed/Incomplete
- Tracking: Track using number of slides viewed (n.68)

I have to huge problems:
1) once you start the course and try to resume the last bookmark, the course starts in a random slide
2) it doesn't pass the Completed/Incomplete and so when I finish the course I'm forced to begin from the first slide (I added a button at the end with the exit course + the complete course triggers) the course opens in a new browser window, maybe is this the reason?

I read a lot in the community and I think the issue is due to the suspend_data, maybe the field of the database is not a varchar so it can store a limited amount of data, I asked for the log file in order to count the characters in the field but the client seems not to be able to do that.

So I'm quite desperate, this new client is very important for us and this is the first course we sell them, so please help me, tomorrow is the day ...

Tnx a lot!

Hi Luca,

I'm sorry you're running into these two issues with your course in SuccessFactors! Due to the deadline today, I'm enlisting the help of our support engineers to help you troubleshoot what may be causing issues! If you can share your course to the link below, they can lend you a hand with testing.

In the meantime, you can try testing your course in a different environment, such as SCORM Cloud, to see if you get the same results. If not, then it may be best to follow up with SuccessFactors to help troubleshoot.

After you upload the file, be on the lookout for some next steps from our team!

Hello Eswarkumar!

Happy to lend a hand. Referencing Luca's update, here's what SuccessFactors advised:

  • After testing the entire course in the LMS - SAP, SuccessFactors shared that Chrome has deprecated xmlhttprequest call back to the LMS.
  • They also asked to export the package in the AICC standard.
  • Lastly, they asked us to have 4 SCOs instead of a single heavy course.

Note on the last bullet: Storyline lets you track a course either by the number of slides viewed or by a single quiz (result slide). Tracking both measurements or multiple quiz scores for the same course isn't supported.

You may be able to track more than one SCO (shareable content object) in a single course using either of the following methods: Track Multiple SCOs in the Same Course

Let us know if that helps you, too!
