I can't seem to get my swf video to play in my project. I have imported flash file and uploaded to LMS and it's just giving a grey bar at the top of the page with 'swf' written in it.
The html5 output will not show the swf only the flash output, in Storyline 1 and 2 you should see you swf on preview as it shows the flash version. SL 3 and 360 show the html5 on preview so swf will not be visible.
Would it be possible for you to convert the SWF file to MP4 before inserting it in Storyline? That way it will play in the HTML5 output without any issues.
While I don't have a recommendation of a conversion tool, folks in the community may have one they can suggest!
Where are you viewing the course? Is it in a specific browser or an LMS?

Are you viewing the flash content?
Hi Pearson CPD!
Take a look at our guide for inserting SWF files into Storyline, as well as Flash Movie Best Practices.
What web browser were you using when you noticed this problem? Have you tried testing in another environment, like SCORM Cloud?

Thank you for getting back to me Phil, I am having the issue in both preview, when published to LMS and also when trying to view in SCORM Cloud.
I have followed the 'best practices' to publish and still not sure where I'm going wrong.
How is best to troubleshoot to get this resolved?
Many thanks.
To see the swf you have to view the flash content it will never play in the html5 content, what publish settings are you using?
HTML5 with Flash fallback and AMP, is that wrong?
The course will always show the HTML5 first so you will never see the swf only on browsers where html5 is not supported.
What is the best setting to try and rectify?
Try flash first but you will need to have flash installed, if you want everyone to see the swf then you should publish flash only.
Is there any way to play without flash?

Hi Alyssa,
I am experiencing the same issue.
The video file format is MP4 and it is only occuring with 2/5 videos within the module.
The setting is also: HTML5 > Flash.
Any other ideas on how to solve this?
