sync narration with text, & in scrolling panel & zoom on hover

Dec 22, 2013

Hi, I am building up a template myself, but I am having issues with the following three problems, assuming that i have a audio narration of my own recording, a few paragraphs of words to put into the slide as the narration is playing and i do not wish to cramp all the words into all together at once but display bit by bit. here are the issues

1. how could i sync the narration with the wordings to go along smoothly as it plays? when i tried to putting those few paragraphs together in a single text box, it will show all the words cramped all together in that slide, and with the narration, the animation displayed out too quickly as the the narration cannot catch up. i figured out a way to sync it nicely with the narration, which is to separate out the paragraphs into smaller text boxes and cue it to the narrations, but it makes it very messy and tedious. could anyone suggest a new method?

2. to solve the cramping of words, i had put in a scrolling panel so the slide does not look very wordy, but i want to let the scrolling be automatically scrolling down as the narration plays. is there anyway i could do that?

Since some slides we have to input many options and small images, and these images are usually small in display size, hence i am wondering

3. if i could magnify on the images on the side as i hover over the image instead of clicking it or going into a layer. this could help when the narration is playing and learners perhaps would want to take a instant zoom on the images. how do i do it? this is an example of what i mean, try going to this website and hover your cursor on the product. http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-WR841N-Wireless-Router-300Mpbs/dp/B001FWYGJS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1387781655&sr=8-2&keywords=tp+link

thank you for your help!

Hi Leng,

1. The method you're describing of splitting them into individual text boxes and cueing the audio to match those, would be the most likely method that other community members would recommend. Also it would be the easiest to use then the additional elements of how to sync animation as described here.  There is a good example here from Becky of how to set up animations by paragraph, but it does not deal with the syncing of audio as you mentioned.

2. There is no automatic scrolling in Storyline.

3. You can't control a zoom region by triggers - but there are a few ways you can make it look that way, and another example here.

4. Storyline doesn't have built in charts that you could insert, so you'd need to build it within Powerpoint or Excel and use it as an image within Storyline.
