Tables in Storyline--they work!!!
Aug 07, 2014
I've been bad. I haven't spent time in the forums as closely as I should lately...so may have missed this.
I just copied and pasted a table into Storyline, and it came in as a table that I could edit! It's not perfect, but tables have always pasted in as images as far as I can tell! This time, I pasted in from an Outlook email message rather than PowerPoint. If I paste the table into PowerPoint, then into Storyline, it pastes as an image.
I had to pass this one on! This will save lots of time!!!

Hi Kate,
Wow, what a fortuitous find!
Thank you for sharing, I spend ages lining up boxes and lines to make 'fake' tables in Storyline, this will save so much time.
Thanks
Hi Kate,
It's an interesting find, but Storyline doesn't not currently support inserting tables as detailed here. It may be another workaround that hasn't been found yet, so if it works for you consistently, you may want to create a screenr and share that example with other users here.
I attached an mp4 video to this. Hope that helps! It does also work if you paste the table into Outlook rather than creating it there.
I work in Storyline 2 and Outlook 2013... it didn't work.
Your workaround was a good idea, but doesn't work for me.
Hi Pascal,
Currently, Articulate Storyline doesn't have native support for tables. If you'd like to suggest this feature, please submit a request to our product development team for review. We take these requests seriously. In the meantime, here are some alternatives for adding tables to your Storyline courses.
Good luck with your project!
My resolve to Storyline not having a basic table insert function was to create a "template" per se. It has multiple cells and rows, all individual. I tailor it to the specific table parameters that I need. Time-consuming, yes. Not ideal. But it works. Once you have a template, it goes a bit faster.
Hi Kate!
Cool tip!
Unfortunately, it does not work for me, as I tried to replicate your procedure using a new Outlook 2007 Mail Message with a Table and Copy/Paste, and it didn't work in SL2 :(
I'm guessing that you are using Outlook 2010?
Your video looks like you are using Outlook 2007, tho. :/
Can you confirm which version of Microsoft Outlook is granting you this wonderful ability?
Thanks!
PS: It might also be that your using Outlook 2007 Tables only works with Storyline 1.
I'm using Storyline 2. ;)
Hi Chad,
Thanks for sharing that here - and if you've got a working template that may be valuable to others in the community it would be great if you're able to share here!
I got really excited when I read this but unfortunately it doesn't work with Outlook 2016 and SL2 either. Oh well...
Old post, but it worked for me. Using Outlook 2010 and Storyline 360. Mind you it works when copying from Powerpoint too.
Glad this older discussion helped you out, and thanks for letting us know Ashley.
it did not help me....sigh....
Hello Mehdi,
This conversation is a bit dated and has mostly occurred prior to our introduction of tables to Storyline 360.
