Text box moves slightly from slide to slide

Sep 07, 2023

I have a text box that will show up from one slide to the next. On the first slide, the text will have a fade in animation and on the next slide, the same text box will be static with no animation. The issue is that when you go to the next slide, the text moves around very slightly but enough to be noticeable. This only happens when using some kind of entrance animation. I've checked the text box positioning, size, font size, font style, and other things that could have been different between those boxes but everything matched. I've found a work around by using shapes to cover the text and then fade out. Is this a bug or does anyone have advise on a fix?

Hello Rene,

Happy to help!

We'll need to take a look at your project file to see if any factors, such as object states, are what's causing the position of the element to shift. Would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a closer look at how your object slides are setup? We'll delete it when we're done testing!

Hi Rene,

Thanks for sharing your project file, and I'm sorry you ran into this! I looked at your project, and it looks like the problem falls under an open issue in Storyline 360, where text alignment moves when adding animation.

As a workaround, you can enable Player.ZoomToFit via a change variable trigger on every affected slide, as shown below:

Enabling Player.ZoomToFit variable.

I've attached a revised version of your Storyline project with this trigger added on slides 1.2 and 1.3 so you can test the workaround.

I'll share your findings with our team and notify you of any changes. Here's a peek into our process:

Please let me know if you have any questions.
