Text change in text box when a certain cue is visited?
May 27, 2019
Is it possible to have text change it's style/format in a text box when a certain cue is visited in Storyline 360?
For example: I am creating a project that has narration and the text in certain parts needs to "bold" when said via the narration. Currently, I am having to duplicate the text box containing the text and then show/hide layers containing whichever formatting I need for that given moment. I am curious if there is an easier way to do this?
For example: The viewer sees the below text on the screen:
"Hi my name is Jamie, it is nice to meet you!" in a text box. The text is displayed all at once.
This goes along with recorded narration and when the narrator says "Jamie" I inserted a cue and I want the on-screen to change from
Jamie" to "JAMIE" and change the color/highlight for example as it is being read.
I am currently under NDA so I cannot upload a file unfortunately.
I hope this makes sense.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Jamie;
one way is to create a new state for your text and then use a trigger to change state when timeline reaches cue point;
it would probably save you some time compare to create layers and duplicating text boxes but still there is some manual work to be done if you have a lot of text/narration;
I've att. a sample file;
hope it helps,
best regards;
Very helpful, thank you so much for the information! I was unaware you could create states!
So glad that Stefano was able to pop in and help you here, Jamie.
