The project file could not be saved. Your system appears to be low on memory...

Nov 03, 2015

I have been getting this error after I work for a few hours on a project, usually projects with screen captures (test mode):

"The project file could not be saved. Your system appears to be low on memory. Please close any other programs and try again. "

error

I close all of my programs and it will still not allow me to save. Then after about 5 minutes I will get this error:

"It is strongly recommended that you close any unneeded applications and save your project."

error2

When this error comes up, Storyline 2 completely freezes and won't let me do anything. I can open other programs and other instances or Storyline, but I cannot access the project I was working on.

I have already submitted a case and was told it is probably a corrupted file, but I have had this problem on multiple projects. I am working on my local c: drive.

I have plenty of RAM installed (24 gigs). I have seen other threads regarding similar issues which are about 3 years old. Has anyone recently experienced this problem and found a fix?

   Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

It's been a while since I have worked on a Storyline Project (my new job is using Captivate). From what I recall, I was usually having this problem while working on software simulations which had large video capture files.

I started making a habit of saving frequently and periodically closing and restarting storyline. This resolved the problem (although it was not very convenient).

You should probably try ensuring you have the most recent update like Ashley recommends.

Hey Donna - Are you experiencing this issue across project files or with one project file in particular? If just one file, you may want to import your slides into a new project to see if this eliminates the issue. If you continue to have difficulty, I'd recommend reaching out to our support team here to see if we can dig a bit deeper into what may be going on.
