"The URL can't be shown" error message on iPad
Jul 01, 2013
I have included video in Storyline as a Web Object and published the activity using LMS, SCORM2004, and the html5, mobile player, and view offline options. The activity plays in Blackboard 9.1 SP10 in the Windows7 environment using multiple browsers, OSX 8.2 using multiple browsers, and the iPhone. When I try to launch the activity on the iPad I get the error "The URL can't be shown" and if I select OK, the next window directs me to download the Articulate Mobile P)layer app. I understand that using the app offers "the best eLearning experience," but is there a way to provide access the activity without requiring the app?
Thanks much.
Deb

Hi Deb and Welcome to E-Learning Heroes! This article shows the features of the app vs Browser on iPad. This article explains how Storyline determines which version of the content to display. By marking the Articulate Mobile Player output, Storyline opens the Mobile Player when content is viewed on the iPad. I hope this helps!
I ended up inserting the video as a Web Object and used https://www.youtube.com/videoID?controls=1 and so far so good.
Thanks.
Deb
