Has anyone experienced the slow timeline preview when using the play button in the timeline pane (bottom left)? I have like 4 objects in my slide and it takes 5 seconds for the preview to play.
Notice that this thread is 4 years old, and we've basically been asking for this since Storyline 1 was released. SL developers around the world share your pain, but I'm pretty sure that this will never improve until a completely rebuilt 64-bit version of Storyline is released that can take full advantage of modern computing power.
Chiming in, I have a project I'm working on now that takes about 20-30 seconds for each slide to start to preview and I need to sync up each slide with several animations. What should be taking me 10 minutes is taking me about 2 hours...
Thanks for your message Leslie but as this thread and my "scrubbing the timeline" own thread are nearly five years old, what can we exp...wait, I already said this last year... and probably the year before.
Hello everyone. Just my quarterly post to complain about how completely horrible this issue is. I actually just pulled all of my hair out, so now I'm bald. Thanks a lot, Articulate for making me bald.
lol yea...I don't even do my screen capture in Storyline anymore if I don't need to use any objects in it. I just record everything in Camtasia and drop the .mp4 file in so I don't have to worry about it. I just did that for a bunch of software training videos and it was so much faster.
I also do my animations in Camtasia now, and using Rise instead of Storyline too. Still have a full head of hair :) seriously, though, I do find that while Rise isn't as flexible, it's made things a lot easier to produce, and can keep Storyline around for creating interactive exercises.
I am having a problem with my project when I preview it I am getting stuck a slide preventing from moving on. it like it is paused or buffering I just see three dots going across like it is attempting to open but nothing happens
I see that you've submitted a case and are currently working with my teammate, Bang! It sounds like you're all set, but if you run into any issue, don't hesitate to reach out in a support case for quick help!

Yea I agree still lol as a video editor that works in Premiere Pro...not having the scrubbing feature in Storyline is hard to edit on the fly.
Yes - not just Premiere Pro, but also Captivate...

Very frustrating!
Hey Kevin,
Yes, the ability to scrub the timeline for nailing the timing of animations is a request that we are tracking.
This conversation is attached so that we can update you when we can.

I won't hold my breath...

Thanks Jacob and Dean. Just kind of a bummer that I feel like I need Articulate, Camtasia, and Captivate to accomplish everything I need to do. :-/
Six years since the original poster requested this, and I'd still like to say how great it would be to have the ability to scrub the timeline.
Surely... Articulate's software developers have the ability to add this functionality??
Greetings

Hi, everyone!
I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 66, we’ve included important fixes and new features.
One of the features we’ve included is:
Scrub the timeline to quickly see when timed elements appear and disappear on the stage without previewing the entire slide.
To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
Please let me know if you need additional help!
