Tin Can Version

Aug 14, 2013

We've been developing courses in Storyline for several months.  Recently, we've been evaluating various LMS solutions.

As with many of the Storyline developers, delivery through mobile devices is vital.  We've been focusing on the compatiability and use of the Tin Can/Experience API.

More than one of the LMS's have indicated they need content published using the 1.0 version of Tin Can.

Can you tell me what version of Tin Can Storyline publishes in?  I've heard that it's Tin Can .9.  And if so, is there some work around?

Hi Allen and welcome to Heroes!

The community may have suggestions for a workaround, but in the meantime I did want to point you to this thread where Christine explains our current support (as you mentioned .9) for Tin Can and potential future support.  Also, I just wanted to be sure you saw this article about when to publish with Tin Can API.

Hello,

Basic publishing question here.

Currently I am publishing my Storyline course on an LMS using the SCORM option.

Our LMS is currently rolling out Tin Can version 1.0 for beta testing. (I realize Storyline does 0.9, but leave that on one side for now.)

How do I publish my content now? Do I have to publish 2 courses, one output in SCORM and another in Tin Can?

Or will the Tin Can replace the SCORM version so I still continue to publish one course to my LMS.

Thanks very much,

Marie

Hi Marie,

This sounds like a question you may want to ask your LMS, if they're going to continue to offer support for publishing with SCORM, with an update to also include Tin Can? Also, if they're doing a beta test, you may want to check and see if you can be involved in it so that you can test your own courses and see how they operate within the LMS environment.
