i've got a four layer (including base) slide-- from my base i have dropped in three hover triggers that should lead to each of the 3 layers-- but it doesn't work-- can anyone point me to a tutorial on this or a quick tip?
The hover trigger works as the other two suggest. I would check your states, if your hover state is smaller than your normal then the mouse may not actually be on the object when it is in hover state.
Also if the layer covers your object and you have it set to reset on mouse out then the layer will disapear.
By default your mouse should be on the hover object to keep it visible.
If you are testing on an ipad, you can really only have a click or a hover trigger, if you have both only the click will fire
thanks guys-- I'm still not getting it. is there a tutorial for mouse hover? i can get triggers to work for clicks but not hovers... am sure it is sumpin' stupid i'm not/doing...
I'm having the same problem as Bud. I have the settings as Gerard described, all states are normal, but the hovers don't work (not in preview, and not when published.) Any ideas on what else to check would be appreciated!
Phil has some good suggestions that are easy oversights, but if you want to post your .story file here, we'd be happy to take a look at it and see if we can figure out what's going on. Thanks!
Thanks so much. I ended up starting a new post, and was able to implement the fix from here, http://community.articulate.com/forums/t/15975.aspx It turns out that hover didn't work for me because I had set the base layer not to display, which was undoing the hover.
I realize that you posted this almost 4 years ago, but it was helpful today. I was having issues with my mouse over trigger not working. It was because the layer it was showing on mouse over covered the image.

There is a trigger tutorial here: http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/working-with-states-triggers-and-layers.aspx
The hover should work in preview if you have it set to:
Action: Show layer
Layer: LayerName
When: Mouse hovered over
Object: YourObject
Yes, hover does work in Preview. To my knowledge all states (including customised) work as they should.

Hi Rochelle,

Did you try unchecking the "restore mouse on leave" in the hover trigger"?
