Trouble Getting Videos to Play in LMS

Sep 21, 2018

Greetings Storyline Community,

I'm having a bit of a convoluted issue that I'll try to explain as succinctly as possible (which is admittedly not my strong suit):

I've created a course (using Storyline 360) that makes heavy use of screencasted videos (about 14, all around a minute and half long). When I published the course to the LMS, three of the videos wouldn't play (though the animations I created to highlight portions of the screen did show up as expected). This occurred when launching the course through Chrome and IE and through the SCORM cloud and our company's LMS.

I went back and added triggers to the videos that weren't working to have them specifically start when the timeline started. On the upload to the LMS after those fixes, it worked for two of the videos, but not the third and a new video froze on the second upload.

Any thoughts on the potential issue or fixes?

Everything is working correctly in Storyline if I preview the course there, so it seems to be some kind of issue in the publishing or potentially our LMS. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

(I feel like that wasn't too convoluted.)

Hi Michael and Leslie,

My apologies for my delay and thank you both for responding!

These were screen recordings I took of my computer to do some software demos (meaning they were MP4 files created by the program).

Fortunately, I found a fairly easy fix for the issue in another articulate post that I can't seem to find the link to now. Anyway, someone suggested just moving the timeline out a second for the slides with the videos and, for whatever reason, that worked!

Thank you both again and looking forward to checking out more of E-Learning Heroes!
