Unable to open file, may have been created with newer version
Apr 26, 2014
I created a Storyline file and needed to send it to a colleague in Italy for translation. I am using Update 5: 1401.2415 as my current Storyline.
My colleague did not have Storyline and downloaded the trail version to assist with our audio translation. She used my original file, recorded audio, and sent it back to me. Now when I try to open the file she sent back I get the response:
"This project cannot be opened. It may have been created in a newer version of Storyline"
Is there a newer version then the one I am currently using? I checked for updates and it says I am up to date. How can I get this file to open?

1401.2415 is the latest version I believe.
Have you tried creating a blank course and importing the slides from the "corrupted" version? This often works when a file won't open directly.
Thank you for recommending this, I did not think of importing. I tried and I received an error that the file is in use. I will try to shut down and try it again.
Hi Mary Lou,
I'd agree with Simon it sounds like something may have happened with the file itself, and you'll want to follow the steps here to import the file into a new project. You'll want to make sure the .story file you're importing is closed while conducting the import.
