Unexpected Behavior of Scrolling Panels
Aug 26, 2013
I'm working on a mock-up of a data entry screen and need to show two scrolling text fields. To keep things clean, I created layers for each of the fields and inserted scrolling panels containing text boxes into the respective layers. In slide view everything looks fine and works as expected.
When I preview the slide, I can scroll the text with the up and down controls in the scroll bar.
However, the thumb (sometimes called the slider or scroller) occupies the entire scroll bar and when I click the thumb, the text disappears.
If I click the up or down controls, the thumb also disappears.
Can anyone explain why this happens and what I can do to correct it?
I am running update 3 of Storyline on Windows Vista; 96 DPI; LCD monitor at 1280x1024.
Thanks,
Mike Harris

Hi Michael! Would you be able to submit your .story file here so that our support team could have a look?
Hi, Leslie. I'm experiencing the same exact issue now that Michael described above over a year ago. Has a fix been identified? Or should I submit my .story file to the support team for review? Thanks!
Hi Elizabeth!
I was actually able to locate the issue that Michael reported.
The issue was reported to our QA Team to investigate and the user was able to workaround their issue by making the scrolling panel a bit bigger.
Ok, great, thanks! Do you know if there is a minimum height/width? Or is it trial & error?
I do not have specifics since this is still under investigation, but one of our users reported that it worked after they made the height of the panel 57 pixels or higher.
Thanks, Leslie! I just changed them all to a height of 60 px and that seemed to do the trick.
Thanks for the update Elizabeth and letting us know that worked.
