Update Bug? Shapes with no-fill not showing in timeline playback

May 08, 2019

Hi all,

I just updated my Storyline to the most recent version (2019-05-08). Now, I am unable to see shapes that don't have a fill (i.e., a box with no fill; lines) in timeline playback mode. The shapes show up in Preview mode and show up when published, but not when playing back with the timeline.

No-fill items were showing just fine this morning. Then I updated Storyline... and now they're not showing. Is anyone else encountering this same problem? Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

Computer: MS Surface Pro 6; Windows 10

Screenshots: (1) Timeline View PAUSED; (2) Timeline View PLAYBACK; (3) Preview Mode

Thanks!

I have just updated to the most recent version of Storyline 360 and am also having issues with the shapes that have no fill.  I'm trying to use red boxes to highlight items on my screen with a video.  At first they were working fine, then it seemed that copy/paste only worked so long, now even creating brand new ones is causing issues.  It seems that the issue for this is when I add the fade in and fade out animations.  if I don't have those (which looks HORRIBLE) then they show up in the playback.  I need to be able to see these while editing slides before publishing.  This happens in both the slide playback and the slide preview.  The shape is clearly on the screen, visible...but acts as if "hidden" when playback happens.

I just did a publish to see if it would show properly in the published version, and all of the box shpes do show and animate.  However, I'm only half way through adding those boxes to highlight areas in the video, and cannot publish every time I need to see if it works or is aligned properly.

Hi Lisa,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing that you're experiencing a similar issue.

I want to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening with your permission. You can share it publicly here or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
