Users cheating on storyline quiz

Apr 11, 2017

Hello everybody!

This is my first post. I'm hoping that somebody can help advise me on a problem with quizzing on Storyline 2. We recently launched an online exam consisting of 36 questions. It's meant to be taken once only and it's all pretty standard fare (apart from the results being reported to Google Sheets).

However, I've recently learnt that there is a way to get around an incorrect answer when using the correct/incorrect slide in each question. When taking a question and getting it wrong, you can exit the test and reload which will then reload the question ready for you to retake the same question - despite having already failed it.

Can anybody advise a way around this?

Thanks,

Rhys

Hi Rhys,

That's something we've heard folks talk about before, and it's a fairly devious way of cheating, but I guess all cheating is devious. I wanted to share two older forum discussions with some good tips and information to help you figure out your course design - Prompt to Resume:Prevent Cheating and A Quiz Answer can be changed.

Hope that those help you as you look at your course design!

Hi Ashley,

Thanks for sharing the other posts! Very helpful.

As I'm tracking question-level data using JS and Google Sheets anyway, I've worked out a method to highlight when a user has submitted the same question multiple times and flag it when it submits the results to sheets. Although it doesn't prove intent, it is a pretty good indicator when we are able to track it across all questions in the exam.

Thanks,

Rhys
