Video and Audio

Apr 20, 2023

Is anyone having an issue with synching video and audio.  When I add silence to the audio editor it appears to be accepting the update, but when I go back and preview after saving, it loses my changes. Additionally, my videos are not showing to completion. Some are freezing at about the 1-minute mark others go out before then when trying to preview and synch up audio.  The timeline continues to run but the video does not show on the screen.

SL is an excellent e-authoring tool, but a pretty poor audio editing tool (I'd say rudimentary, at best, and, like you are finding, non-functional at worst.) I use Audacity, or MS Photos to edit audio. Even starting it, editing, and importing back to SL is so much faster than what you are experiencing trying to edit in SL.

Hi Jackie,

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue! That shouldn't be happening, and I'm happy to help troubleshoot.

If the issue persists, you can try to repair Storyline. Additionally, if you're comfortable sharing your file with our team, we'd be happy to take a closer look to investigate what's going on. You can upload it here or privately in a support case. We'll delete it from our systems once troubleshooting is complete.

I would like to add to this, that although I wasn't adding silence , I used the editor to cut a chunk of audio out, and then republished and the audio published in full rather than the edited version it was not repeatable but has happened at least twice in the last week, didn't report as a bug as thought it was me and now starting to think it might not have been.

Good morning, Kelly! Thank you for your response. I do typically work on a network drive, but I tried moving this to my local drive and the issue is still occurring.  I have also tried importing the slides into a new Storyline file with no success.  I will give the repair a shot and if that doesn't fix it, I will upload it for investigation.

Hi everyone,

I have a similar problem. I have exported a discussed PowerPoint as a video and inserted this video into Storyline. I would like to use only the player timeline, not the video player. The forward and rewind of the video is faulty, the audio track does not match the video. Does anyone have an idea for this problem?

I add:
There are pop-ups in the video mentioned.
This means that if I only want to use the player timeline, my popups work great, but rewinding and fast-forwarding the video does not. If I use the video player, then the forward and rewind of the video works very well, but the popups do not. Is there a way to make both (popups and video rewind and forward) work?
