Video deleted but remnants remain

Sep 30, 2015

I had to delete a video from the timeline because it was not playing when I published and tested on HTML5.  I added the original unedited video file back and edited it within Storyline2.  The crazy thing is when I play the slide, both videos are playing even though one was deleted as is no longer anywhere on the timeline.  I have closed out of Storyline and reopened the file but the deleted video remains.  I even published and tested again in HTML5 and the new video has a black box on top of it where the old video originally played.  How do I get rid of the old video that shows up anytime I play the slide?

Hi Becky!

You may find that your Articulate Storyline content doesn't update as expected in the following scenario:

*  You're hosting content on a web server or LMS.
*  You republish the content and overwrite the existing files on the web server or LMS.

This is due to file caching. See the following article for solutions.

Hi Leslie,

I agree with the article and even cleared the cache where  I could but the ghost video is still appearing when I run the slide in Storyline even though I deleted the video from the timeline.  The only reason that I had published it was because I was hoping that there was a glitch in Storyline that would not be picked up once I published the file but that was not the case.  I even rebooted my computer and the video still shows up.

Hey Jessica - I wish I had an update to share with you here. Looks like Becky did reach out to our support team as well, but that inquiry was not complete either so that we could assist in troubleshooting. You are welcome to reach out to the user directly via the 'Contact Me' option on the user profile if you wish.

I would recommend sharing your .story file with us so that we could take a look.
