Video finishes before timeline ends
I have a few videos in my presentation that I have set up to advance to the next slide when they are done. The videos are 30 FPS and are the appropriate length when inserting into the project timeline, but when I go to watch the project the seekbar has a few more seconds to go before the timeline ends. This doesn't match the end point in the project at all. What's going on and how do I fix it?

So I would double check the runtime of the videos. What I do is make sure the timeline is like 5 seconds long and then import the video, it will stretch the timeline to the length of the video. If it is a youtube or vimeo video just get the runtime of the video from the site and translate it into seconds for the timeline.

I created the videos, they are 1-2 minutes long and I imported the mp4s directly into Storyline. The longest video is 2 minutes and 21 seconds long, and it is currently starting at the beginning of the timeline but taking up less than 130 seconds. I have no way of knowing when the end of the Storyline timeline should be without shortening the timeline and then re-watching the whole video over and over to find out when the slide changes.

So I would open the video in quicktime or in Windows media and double check the length of the video, also double check how much black you left at the end of the clip, and then adjust your timeline accordingly. The timeline should be second for second with the video.

When I imported the video, it did align second for second with the timeline. But when you preview or publish the course, there is 10-12 seconds of empty space at the end. So that is why I keep shortening and testing these videos. The screen capture in windows is attached, showing 2:21. It fades to black, but there is only one frame of solid black at the end.

I will be honest, that is very weird. Your timeline should be set at 141 seconds. Now that I say that, where are you watching this that you are seeing the lag? Is that just in the preview or did you export to a review link? The preview will sometimes be behind as where being in the LMS or on an actual review link from a server it acts fine.

We first found it in Review where we were sending it out for testing, and it is acting the same way in the preview.
Thanks, Kathrine.
With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.

Same thing happened to me. It was working fine before those updates.

Hi Frank,
The problem turned out to be because I used a screen capture program to record the video. Once I re-published it in a different video editor, it appeared to work fine.

Thank you Kathrine, but my video files didn't even change. I just republished the package, those timelines with videos randomly extended 5-10 seconds. And I can visually tell that seeking bar is not running smoothly.
