Video freezes, no issue with actual mp4 file

Hi there,
A colleague of mine built a video module earlier this year, which is effectively a near-30 min video lecture, however it pauses towards the end (I can't timestamp because despite the numerous requests for the functionality, Articulate doesn't seem to think a timer is needed with the seekbar) and I can't really see what the issue is.
The freeze occurs about 1/2 mins from the end of the video, after the presenter says "and that gives you a picture of the virgin strata".
Please could someone help with this? I've attached the SCORM zip folder.
Chris

Hard to tell without seeing the Storyline file, but is it possible that the video was trimmed at its end within the video editor? if not, are there any triggers set in the timeline? Oddly, the video seems to begin again if you start drag the seekbar past the point where it pauses. In any case, I think looking at the video in the video editor is a fruitful place to start.
One thing I would mention regarding the seekbar, is that you could remove the player seekbar on that screen, and instead show video controls for the video. Those have a seekbar and a timer.
Hi David,
Thanks for responding, I assumed the story file would be too large to upload but it seems not, here it is :)
As far as I can see, no triggers or any reason to pause. And for my own sanity and to avoid embarrassment I've checked the mp4 video over and over to ensure the issue isn't with the video (it's not). 1482s is the pause. I hope I haven't missed something super blatant....
Hi there, Chris. Thanks for the opportunity to have a look!
I published the file to LMS on Update 5 of Storyline 3 and uploaded it to SCORM Cloud (a handy tool we use to test SCORM output) – here's the course link!
I'm having a little trouble reproducing the freezing on my end (Chrome 70/Mac), so I'll need your help. Could you give my course link a try to see how it works on your end? Additionally, what browser(s) are you viewing the content in?
Hi Chris,
Thanks for uploading the module. I see the issue is in fact that the video is trimmed. I'm guessing that your colleague wanted to trim the front of the video, as the trim start is 4.7 seconds in, but may have inadvertently set the end back, as it shows the trim end at 24:47, which is right where "virgin strata" is. Dragging that trim back to the end should fix things.
David, thank you so much for your help, lifesaver :)
Thanks very much for replying Katie, this has been fixed now.
I'm seeing the same issue w/ a long (43 min.) video. It always freezes in the exact same point, but only in the published file.
There are no triggers or cue points near the point where it freezes. And it's not a trim mark since I never use the SL video editor. No edits to either audio or video were made in SL. It was edited in Camtasia & imported as a finished video. And there are no edits or splices in the Camtasia project file near that point.
The peculiar thing is that I have another SL file with a similarly-long video & it works just fine.
Suggestions?
Hi Keith,
Thanks for chiming in and sharing the issue you are currently experiencing.
If you're able to replicate or need some help with testing, please contact our support team directly here.
I had a similar issue with a file. After confirming the video was set to "Show until End", when I published the file and altered the Video Quality (Under the Properties header) and increased the audio bitrate, it resolved the issue.
Hey Keith,
Were you ever able to find a solution to this issue?
I am experiencing the EXACT same thing you are. Camtasia file and all.
Thanks,
Hi Tyler & Keith,
Any luck on your end?
I am having the same issue - MP4 loaded into Storyline and plays fine everywhere but once loaded in the LMS midway through the video will freeze but the seek bar continues.
The seek bar is set to allow the user to drag after completion SO once the video ends if the user wants to rewatch the video they can drag right to the point that it previously froze and it will play through with no issue.
Also, I'd like to point out this happened in two different part of the video for myself and another user.
Thanks!
Hi Brad,
Sorry to hear that you encountered the same behavior.
Have you tested your course in a different LMS to see if the issue is isolated? If not, here's a helpful article which explains how you can test your course in SCORM Cloud so see if the issue is LMS specific.
If you are able to replicate the behavior in SCORM Cloud, open a case with our support team here and we'll be glad to take a closer look at your video files.
Let us know how it goes!
