I have a Storyline 2 project where a MP4 embedded video is to play in full, then when it's completed, this triggers a jump to the next slide. At the moment, the video doesn't always load in full before making the jump to the next slide, and this is independent of user input. I can't find a variable or trigger that would prevent the video from playing in full, and it doesn't appear to jump to the next video at the same place in the video. Any clues?
Hi K. It sounds like you have everything set up correctly. To make sure I understand the issue, it sounds like the trigger to jump to the next slide is set up for "when media completes (video)," and that before the video ends, the next slide is being shown.
Does the length of the video match the length of the timeline of that slide?
Is this happening with one slide only, or do you have multiple slides where this same trigger is malfunctioning?
HI Crystal, apologies for the delay, I just got this notification. I've attached a file as an example. It's happening on every video that's over a minute or so in length, multiple slides. The timeline does not automatically extend to be longer when the video is added, this must be done manually and doesn't always work to solve the issue.
I've had a few folks test it and they're still having the video not complete in full before jumping to the next slide. I've never been able to reproduce the issue but they still see it.
It seems to happen with both Chrome and Firefox, on Windows machines. I'm on a PC with Chrome and can't get it to duplicate either but it's a real problem when the team is testing this and videos don't play in full for them.
I can appreciate that it's frustrating when only a few learners are running into an issue, especially when you're unable to replicate the behavior yourself.
Next time you hear a report about this, let us know which browser and version they were using. We'll be standing by – and if we can find a trend, that will help us nail down what’s going on here!

Happy to try and help!

I wasn't able to reproduce the problem, but I may be able to speed up your work flow.
Pausing the timeline pauses the video (and everything else on the slide), and resuming it resumes the video.
If you don't use the pause media trigger, then you don't have to use the play media trigger, either.
Hi Walt, thanks! Unfortunately, it didn't seem to work on the first go around, hence why I added in the extra trigger. Appreciate the help though.
Hi K,
Thanks for sharing your file and allowing us to take a look. I was not able to replicate the behavior you were reporting either.
Here is my published output.
I checked a couple of slides in the beginning and the published output matches the preview, so I'm not sure if you're seeing something different.
If you're seeing an issue with the link I shared above, please let me know.

Any common environment or browser that we could look into?
