Video Not Pausing When Timeline is Paused

Dec 21, 2017

Hello!

I'm slowly  making the transition from Storyline 2 to Storyline 360 using a fairly complex and video-heavy course. I was having a playback issue in one video that seemed to be corrected when I moved the course to 360, but it's now introduced another problem: The video introduction in the course in Storyline 2 was just placed on the timeline, and the trigger on the slide was set to pause the timeline on the slide when the timeline starts. The user was then able to start the video by pressing play on the player button when they were ready to begin the course. Because of 508 specifications, the video cannot autostart; the user must begin the video. When I transitioned to 360, this slide no longer functions this way. I'm mystified and wondering if anyone has any insight into what in 360 makes this functionality different. I've tried setting the video to play automatically and when triggered, but neither work. I'd prefer to use the player controls over the video controls if possible.

Thank you!

Hi Lauren,

That is mystifying, and I'd love to help get to the bottom of this for you!

I created a sample .story file here, which I think matches what you're looking to accomplish. Does the timeline pause for you in that sample file?

I’d also be curious to have a closer look at your .story file to see what triggers you selected, and how it’s set up relative to my sample file. Would you be able to attach it here?
