Video not playing on IPad

Hello,

I been having a little trouble with my videos playing on the IPad via HTML5. What I want to happen is have the video play automatically when the slide starts. As it is now when I get the the particular slide that the video is on the video looks like a freeze frame and if you want to have the video play you need to tap on the video itself. When I do play the story in a computer browser everything plays as it should automatically.

A little about the set-up:

  • The first video I want to play is by itself on the slide timeline, I have tried it with and without a cue-point at the beginning.
  • I have 2 triggers, one to jump to next slide when timeline ends and when you click on next button.
  • Under Movie Tools -> Options "Play Video Automatically" is selected.
  • When I publish the story for Web I have the "Include HTML5 Output" box checked only (not interested in the IPad mobile player)
  • I did test the project on the Articulate Tempshare server.

So I guess the big question is can I play the videos in my project automatically on the IPad?

Unfortunately, if you choose to view the content in Safari and HTML5, the videos may not play automatically. This is due to a limitation of the browser and HTML5.

For a more complete chart, you may want to look at this article on Comparing Storyline's Flash, HTML5 and AMP output. The second chart will give you a better idea of what exactly is supported in HTML5 output and may help to have for future reference.
