Video playbar for HTML5

Jan 06, 2016

When we preview our file and when we publish it to Articulate Online, the look and feel of the video playbar is what you see in the attached screenshot: it appears below the video and it remains visible for the entire video.

But, when we publish to LMS and include the HTML5 output option, the playbar changes to a black transparent style that overlays the video and shows/hides itself when you roll over the bottom of the video. The problem for us is that the playbar covers up the closed captioning on our video, so we need it to remain as shown in the attached screenshot.

I'm guessing this is something that we may be able to modify by publishing the file and editing the code.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the code adjustment or other ideas/solutions?

Thanks!

G.

Hi, Gabrielle -- Welcome to the community and thanks for reaching out with your question! In case you weren't aware, I wanted to note that unfortunately, we are not able to provide support for modifications to published output or JS coding, but there are lots of JS gurus in the community who are knowledgeable and may be able to chime in to assist. Also, in case you'd like to have it handy, here is our JS Best Practices sheet! :)

Hi, Gabrielle -- Have you had an opportunity to test your content to see how it behaves in the SCORM Cloud, as that environment is typically recommended for testing LMS content? You may also want to to take a look at this info on Publishing and Sharing SL2 Content. If things do not appear the same in the SCORM Cloud and your LMS, we tend to recommend that you reach out to your LMS provider directly to see where the issue may be occurring. Does that answer your question?

The problem is occurring before we actually upload it to the LMS. So, basically, I "publish to LMS" in Storyline, then I directly open the published folder on my desktop (without even uploading it to the LMS), I open the storyHTML file in Internet Explorer (again, outside of the LMS), and that's where the problem occurs. For this reason, I don't believe it's an issue with the LMS because I'm not viewing the file from within the LMS... I'm viewing it directly from my desktop as published output from Storyline.
