Videos freezing in Sakai 11 - SCORM Tool

Jun 21, 2018

I am currently working on a SCORM module that contains 5 videos, each of them being around 10 minutes each. Whenever I preview my module in storyline it runs fine, however if I upload it to a SCORM tool and try to view it, the videos will randomly freeze. They freeze at random spots and it is not the type of freezing that occurs when a video buffers, when my videos freeze they no longer play and the only way to continue is to wait for the timeline to end so the user can click the next button (due to the triggers I have in place).

I have tried many things, I have tested an multiple browsers and the issues persist. I have converted the mp4 files to different presets in Adobe Encoder and it still has not worked. I have tried to convert the videos to a MPEG2 format and upload them but the videos still freeze. The only solution that I can currently think of is uploading the videos to youtube and then embedding them into storyline, however this is really not an option that I want to pursue. Is there anything else that I can try to prevent this freezing ?

Hello ITRC!

I'm happy to lend a hand here. First, what version of Storyline did you use to create this content? You can check by clicking the Help tab, then About Storyline.

Once we have the version number, we'll want to test the published content in SCORM Cloud, which is a handy tool we use for LMS testing. We'll check it in all supported browsers to be sure it's working well in each one.

Would you mind sharing the original (unpublished) file with me in a new reply here? Thanks!
