Want a pure white background for slides, but it looks slightly grey

Hey folks, I have a quick question and I can't seem to find an answer in the existing posts.
I have images I am using that have pure white background, and I am also using white boxes to stage in some content as my audio plays.
When I go to preview it, I can "see" the white, because the background looks just slightly grey.
I checked that my Design>Background Styles>Format Background is set for white fill with no transparency.
I looked at the player settings under the color/effects menu and chose the modern player with the dark player theme. I don't see any more options there.
Attached shows what my issue is. Any help is appreciated to get rid of the "white showing up" effect.
Thanks,
Coba.

Hi Coba,
Are any of the items on a layer, and do you have your base layer set to 'dim'? I can't replicate the issue, so maybe uploading your file might allow us to assist you further.
Hi Jen:
Here is one slide from that file. I use layers in some slides, but not all of them of course. Toggling "dim" on or off doesn't seem to make any difference.
Any help would be great!
Thanks,
Coba.
Just as an update, I found that it was an issue with the Velocity template I was using. It had a picture as a background on the main template, which I was able to delete. No more white on grey issue :-)
