Thanks for the screencast, but sorry for the trouble. Looks like you have a couple open cases regarding this issue, so I'll keep an eye on them and make sure you get it resolved. Thanks, and welcome again!
I have the 30 trial period version and I am experiencing the disapearing act as well, but it happens as soon as I click the Recording button. I then have to go into the Task Manager to stop the Storyline Process or else I can't reopen my project.
I am trying to prepare a presentation to show my partners the Storyline tool but I'm loosing faith. Can someone help me on this?
I believe you are experiencing something that is completely normal SL behaviour, slightly different from the original post, but admittedly rather disconcerting when it first happens!
When you are in a Storyline project, and click "Record Screen", SL closes down, think of it as "...getting out of the way". You then record your screen, and when you are finished (using Alt-D and ending the recording...), it will open up again to insert your recording into the Scene you choose.
The only time this is confusing is when you need to record a Storyline application! In this case, you just open a SECOND SL, and when that "closes", you tab over to the original.
Agree with Bruce this is expected behaviour, whenever you choose fullscreen recording Storyline will appear to disappear. Click esc and your recording will end and storyline will reappear
Something similar is happening to me as well. I want to do a screen recording of a Storyline slide, but Storyline is "getting out of the way" (i.e. disappearing) when I hit record. When I try to open the Storyline project, my computer says "You can't open it, because it's already being used by another user." There's gotta be a simple fix here. Thanks so much. --Daniel
Ahhhhhh...now I think I get it. Open up a dummy project and hit record... Thanks again. btw, the way I bought the Alberger vo book. Should start it tomorrow or so. --Daniel
Opening up a second storyline is so brilliant, thanks. Been driving myself crazy how to do a screencast of the slide I needed in Storyline without copying everything to PPT.

I hope that makes sense.
Have a look under Step 3 of this tutorial - you can see that this is explained.

I ended up getting a new computer - problem solved!

Hi,
Just open up ANOTHER #2 instance of SL, and then run it from there.
Instance #2 will close, and allow you to Alt-Tab to Instance #1.
That's how it is all meant to work.
Hope that helps.
Bruce
PS - I would try and show you this in a screencast, but ironically I am not sure it would all show

LOL.
Yep - that's it, "open a dummy".
Have fun with Alberger!
