Working with variables

Hi there,

I have added a variable that changes the state of a topic when the user returns to the menu and the new state changes colour and adds a tick to indicate what has been completed. The first 3 topics work fine but the remaining 3 topics changes state as soon as I click on the topic and it jumps to the slide. I have been through a million times and there is nothing different on any of the variables on any of the slides, the states are also exactly the same - what am I doing wrong???

Some advice would be welcome as I am slowly losing the will to live!
