Yet another Question Bank Question
Mar 11, 2019
Good morning Community,
Bit of a long time lurker, first-time poster.
I have a client at the moment who has multiple question banks throughout a module, they wish to change the way the system works when getting a question wrong.
For example, there are 20 questions within each question bank and 5x QB's (they want to set this up the same for all of them) if you get question #4 incorrect, they want to ask Q#4b, if you get that wrong, you get asked Q#4c. This is for all questions.
I'd initially set it up based on a normal question bank, pull random etc, but after testing they've come back with this request. The only solution I can think of in my limited experience is setting each question up manually and then on the failure tab it links to the next question - Obviously not ideal, and why I'm turning to the community for guidance and advice.
Thank you for taking the time to read and offer your advice.

Hi Shannon, thanks for your post!
This is certainly a puzzle, but there are lots of creative instructional designers in this community, so hopefully someone who has created a similar set-up can chime in with ideas.
Just for clarification, can you give us a few more details about the quiz?
Hi Alyssa,
This conundrum has left me scratching my head... I'm hoping someone in the community will be able to offer some guidance, even if it's not possible.
For clarification, if #4 is answered incorrectly it shouldn't be counted, however, the subsequent score for either #4b or #4c would be. ( they get 1 chance per question, however, there are three goes at the mark for the combined questions)
Hey Shannon,
I'd be scratching my head, too! I haven't seen a quiz like this before, but perhaps someone in the community can shed some light!
I think you would have to do this outside a question bank, will all of the questions have this branching behaviour?
I think it may cause an issue, with scoring although I do think if you miss a question the score in the results slide is based off the questions you answered
Hi Guys,
I was able to resolve this as the client removed the randomiser requirement. The solution was through branching, variables and making the pass score 1/3 or all questions.
Hi Shannon! Thanks for the follow-up about what ultimately worked!
