Zoom Region not easy to use because no copy paste function

Oct 17, 2018

Hi,

I tried to use the Zoom area function for a step by step video created with storyline. And of course I want to zoom the area of the screen where the user has to enter information.

The issue is that when I zoom an area on one slide there is no way to use the same area in the next slide, which is the continuity of the first one. the only way is to recreate a zoom at the pixel precision to have a continuity. It is almost impossible, even using a zoomed slide. There is no copy paste function which would be the best solution, or snap function to stick the zoom to an object or to the grid, and absolutely no information on the zoomed area, dimension, zoom size or position.

Another thing which is not working, is the zoom speed. When you select very slow speed, the zoom stops in the middle...

Most of the functions are incomplete and make the development very hard and painful !

Here an attachment of an example of what I want to do:

Zoom in slide 1 on the blue rectangle then display the slide 2 on zoomed on the same object, then I can zoom and pan onthe green elipse.

Copy paste of zoom 1 will avoid a lot of work.

Hi there Eric,

So sorry you're having such a tough time with zoom regions. We've heard from other folks in the community that it's a huge challenge to duplicate a zoom region on a separate slide, so you're not alone in this. I'll be happy to pass along your feedback to our product team as they consider new features to add to Storyline 360 in the future.

As for the zoom speed, our team is investigating an issue where using the "very slow" setting results in an incomplete zoom. As soon as we have a fix for this bug in place, we'll let you know about it!

I found a kind of work around, but it needs time:
I create 2 rectangles in the top left and bottom right of my zoom area. I zoom to the maximum the slide and put corner of the top rectangle on the top left corner of the zoom and the bottom right corner of the rectangle on the bottom right corner of the zoom area.
you need to do it at the pixel size. then I copy paste my 2 rectangles on the other slides and make the same action with the zoom area. I did it 5 times for my step by step video, it's a long process, but the result is good.
Here the schema in the attached file.

Hi Everyone!

We just released another update for Articulate 360 and included a few important fixes that you'll see in the release notes here.

The issue with zoom regions with a transition speed of "very slow" didn't zoom in completely has been corrected as well.

Just launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for Storyline 360. Details here!
