Any users of Peach New Media's (now Abila) Freestone LMS?

Apr 29, 2016

We're new Storyline 2 users here and are moving to Peach New Media's (now Abila) Freestone LMS. I looking for best practices regarding course development when using the two.

Specifically, we're not sure if we should craft our courses in smaller chapters (multiple SCORM packages) or one long course. Showing progress and tracking completion within Freestone is a priority.

Any thoughts?

Hi Dean,

I have worked with Peach New Media. I have developed 4 very long courses in Storyline, at the client's request, and published in Peach. They were for certification as well. As far as developing goes, long courses take longer to save and update and just plain manage.

But most importantly, users like shorter courses that they can take in 20 minutes or so.  So I would choose the smaller chapter approach and make each chapter a pre-req for the others. Or they have to take all of the chapters to earn the certification.

Usually developers refer to chapters as modules and then modules make up the course. I do have clients who prefer the word chapter. Your group may as well.

Cheers,

Julie
