Looking for help

Jun 03, 2011

As an elearning developer and consultant I have been using Articulate for years with many Fortune 50 companies and absolutely love it!  I have never been able to find a way to solve the following problem an am hoping that those with skills much greater than mine can help.

What I want to do is create branched navigation.  I have included a map below.  When the learner hits slide 2, i want them to be able to choose from multiple options (in the example provided 2a1-2a3, or 2b1-2b3) either of which bring them back to slide 2.  Only after completing both of the choices on slide 2 do I want them to be able to navigate to slide three.  In other words, I don't want the "Next" button on slide 3 to activate till they have clicked on both options on that slide and navigate down both branches.  Is there any way to do this with Articulate?

I know how to develop the branched navigation, but cannot figure out how to make the "Next" arrow on slide 2 conditional on completing all links.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Robert,

I'm pretty sure you can't make a "next" button conditional, but a workaround would be to create 2 scenarios.  One for when they click on 2a1, and another one for when they click on 2b1.  for each one of them you will have to create an alternative 'slide 2' that shows 'greyed out' the item they've just completed, so you will end up with 4 "slide 2" (2-1, 2-2, 2-3 and 2-4).

2-1 will have - 2a and 2b enabled

2-2 will have - 2a grayed out and 2b enabled

2-3 will have - 2b grayed out and 2a enabled

2-4 will have - 2a and 2b grayed out and "Next" enabled.

This is the only workaround I can think of...
