More Real Problems - This time with Quiz Results Slides

Apr 07, 2020

Hello,

I'm having ongoing trouble with getting my story project quiz to work. I've been working on and off over the past 5 days with Support, without resolution.

They are so nice, and generally respond within 24 hours, but their solutions don't really solve my problem.

I have a quiz scene that includes a question bank and a draw from slide and a results slide. I copied the results slide from another course that worked fine, but it's not working in my scene.

I have 31 items in the bank, and have set the draw to randomize 20 items at a time, yet when I test it in Review 360, it pulls all 31 items.

If I do continue on through the 31 items, I don't get the results screen.

I've checked all my triggers, and the QB slide settings and the Master Slides.  I've read all the tutorials, and watched You Tube videos. I've spend time with another story ID who built the original slides, and she couldn't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

My project is way overdue, and I'm about to pull my hair out.

Is there anyone out there willing to help?

Hi Shari,

I'm sorry to hear you're having so much trouble here! That sounds super frustrating. I checked in with our support team, and it looks like they've been working with you on some other issues, but not the one you mention here specifically.

The quickest way to help you find a solution would be for you to submit a new case here and attach your file.

In the meantime, if there's anything else I can do to help, please let me know!

Thank you, Nancy.

I've attached my project.

Here is the issue with the question bank and results slide on the Final Exam scene:

1. The first question presents, and the radio buttons work and there is a submit button.

2. After the first question and going forward, the question items present, but the radio buttons are dead, and there is no submit button, only prev/next buttons.

3. Because I can't take the quiz and finish it, I don't know if it's talking to the results slide or not.

Any advice you can give would be much appreciated.

Ok, so the problem with the radio buttons is that there is a trigger on the slide master you are using for the final exam. The trigger says to submit results 2.2 when the user clicks the submit button. If you remove this trigger the quiz works correctly.

However, the results are not passing to the results slide. I think this is because you are using custom variables on the results slide instead of the build-in ones.

I don't have time to look at this now but my advice would be to delete the current results slide and create a new one for this.

Hi, Shari,

Quick tip about Results slides: I've found that copying/importing them from another file can cause issues, which seem to be due to how the program recognizes (or, rather, doesn't recognize) the variables.

I recommend inserting a new Results slide. Then, if you want to re-create the look and feel of a slide from another course, open that course separately and copy various elements, such as special graphics or other objects, into the new Results slide. But be sure you keep the built-in score percentage and points variables from the new Results slide.

Best regards!
