Slight graphical problems when creating simple quiz.

Aug 29, 2019

Hello - not sure where i'm meant to put this but I was directed here - please let me know if this is in the wrong spot:

I'm just having problems with some simple quizzes (see attached). In a multi-select one - the 'square graphic' (the one where students click to select an answer) when the answer is more than one line, the graphic distorts so that there is an underline under the square.

A similar thing happens with the multi-choice question - the circle appears to duplicate for questions that are larger than one line.

I'm not sure how to fix this - I'm very new to storyline so sorry in advance if this is an easy fix. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks :)

It looks like on all your answers, there is a check box with rounded corners UNDER the check box with square corners.

The rounded checkbox appears to be the one provided automatically by the template, and the square one seems to be one that was added.

I have never seen this before so I don't know why the square-cornered box is there or how it works.

The square check box is aligned with the top of the answer paragraph and the one with rounded corners is aligned with the center.  It doesn't stick out on the single line answers because the top align and center align are in the same place. Therefore, the bottom portion of the rounded check box is sticking out on the two line answers.

See attachment.

This can be seen when you "Edit State" on the answer, it will not be editable in the regular view.

One solution would be to enter "Edit State" for each of the square-cornered boxes and reposition them so that they are exactly over the round-cornered box.  You would need to do this three times, once for each state on each answer.

That is a long answer, I know.  Here is an important question:  Why are you not using the check boxes as they are provided as default by the template?  The easiest solution would be to simply use the check boxes that were already there and provided by the template.

I'd be tempted to use the built-in Multiple Choice and Multiple Response slides. They'll take a bit of tweaking to get them to look the same as your current designs but it's pretty straight-forward. Here is a video showing how to customise quiz questions in Storyline 360.

Alternatively I agree with John that the default radio buttons and check boxes are going to be easier to work with than what you have at the moment.
