Trouble with variables & conditions to control navigation options

Sep 18, 2017

Hi

I am having trouble restricting the user from moving to the next slide until such time they have visited every menu item on the slide.  I have created a T/F variable with a default value of F and set triggers in each linked slide to change the variable to T when the NEXT button is selected.  On the menu itself, I have created a trigger to 'activate' the NEXT button when all of the menu items have been 'completed' (a button that has a state set to completed when clicked).

My problem is that the user can progress is they select the menu items out of sequence; what am I doing wrong?

I've attached the file so that someone with more brains than me can help solve my dilemma! (p.s. please don't tell Matt G as he only just taught me this last week! :( )

Hi Kerry

I'm not in my office to download the file. But try this.

Instead of using the states in the trigger use the T/F variables.

So on the hub slide:

Change state of Next button to disabled when timeline starts on xx slide.

Change state of Next button to normal when timeline starts on xx slide on condition that variable a = true AND variable b = true AND variable C - true.

If that doesn't work let me know and I'll download your file when I get back.

Thanks Wendy

I tried to copy what you instructed; however, this hasn't fixed the problem.  I only had 1 variable so was only able to set the 2nd step once.  It didn't prevent the user from progressing before first selecting all of the menu items.

Could you have a look and let me know what I am doing wrong please?

On a similar note.... I am now trying to make my objects disappear as they are dropped onto another object ina Drop & Drag interaction.... I have set triggers for each item to be Hidden when the object is dropped on either of the 2 objects available.  I don't understand what has gone wrong :(

I'll attach this file too so that you can help me with this also.... It seems so elementary and I am frustrated I can't get the simplest right! So your correction will be most welcome :)

Kind regards
Kerry
