using amazon s3 - accessing the resources from the test server

hi everyone, I've set up an amazon s3 account, and I've been able to upload my work to the cloud and I'm able to access my work from the server.
I followed the tom kuhlman instructions in setting a bucket policy and copied the code he recommended.
However what I can't access is the resources in the resources section of the player. The resource is a pdf dcoument, and I can see the icon, but access is denied when you click on it.
I as just wondering if access was denied because there was no reference to accessing the subfolders in the code that I had to insert in to the bucket policy or is there another reason ?
if it was the subfolder issues, where would I find the code for this ?

Have you tried selecting the folder and making it public?
yes the folder is public, and i can access the player contents except for when you try to access the resources, which gives me the access denied message when trying to open the pdf document in the reources
