Best practice for transcripts when embedding videos from video hosting sites in Storyline
- 2 months ago
Hi KayleaMitchem- I would recommend an appropriately titled button under the video such as "{video name} transcript". When the user selects the button, it opens the transcript on a new layer in Storyline. I would ensure that the new layer pauses the main timeline, and prevents the user from accessing the base layer when open. Whilst it can't be used alongside the video, you can make the transcript as detailed as you need to.
I have also seen links to PDF download that contains the transcript, but I have always preferred the Storyline layer, as the user can remain in the course, and you can use semantic HTML mark-up to ensure the transcript is as accessible as possible.
