Cannot Export Storyline to Word

Hello E-Learning Community,

Hoping you can help with this one.

We need to make a Word copy of our Storyline training (to share with regulators, etc.,); however, when I Publish >> Word, I get the following error dialog:

The folder 'name of training" is read only, being used by another process or you do not have the proper security permissions to access this resource.

I have tried the following, always getting the same result:

  1. Saving the Storyline file to a different/ local drive
  2. Having a colleague try
  3. Signing in and out of Articulate

Further, I can publish to the web, to Review, etc., just not to Word.

Does anyone know what might be going on?

Thank you,
Melanie

  • Just wondering if there has been any update to the file extension Storyline is using. We have never been able to export to word and I suspect it is the same problem as we are a large agency with office 365.

      Hi Marie,

No update as yet from Articulate on when they will be changing the export to word file format to a .docx file.

It sounds like a simple solution, but it must be causing the Articulate team issues, as it would appear to be a roadmap item they could quickly change that effects so many users.  The latest update also has the issue in it, even though it's the x64 version.

I've created another Support case for this as I'm pretty sure they closed the last one even though it has never been fixed. Case # 00875415.

  • Hi all, I still have the same problem today. I opened a case Case #00885732, and someone replied this. Is it normal? Do I open a case to be seen replied that I should use the user guide?

    Hi Philippe,

The Articulate 360 desktop app makes it super easy to install, launch, and update Storyline 360, Studio 360, Replay 360, and Peek 360. See this user guide to learn how:

      Hi Philippe,

      Sorry for any confusion!

I see you've connected with my teammate, Ian, and they've sent you some additional troubleshooting steps. We can continue the conversation in your case!
