Color picker (eyedropper) doesn't work
Trying to pick a shape's border color to match other on-screen elements. The eyedropper only works in the dialog box. Once outside, the chosen color is black no matter what the eyedropper is over.
SL version 12.14647.0

Hi Debrah,
Since the last response was 10 months ago, let's start fresh. Can you share a bit more about what you're experiencing?
Do you see an issue where the Eyedropper is not working correctly with multiple monitors? Looking forward to hearing back!

Hi Ren,
Thank you for your prompt reply and support. I found the next day I had no issues, which is fantastic but probably due to the home/office setup and screen resolutions you mentioned.
Thank you again :)

Just thought I'd chime in that the issue on the most recent version of Storyline 360 is still occurring. I have multiple monitors and switching between
Format Shape > Color > More Colors > Click the Eyedropper
and
Format Shape > Color > EyedropperYields different results, but often not the correct color picker location still. Adjusting both the laptop and external monitor to the same % scaling seems to work, but it causes the entire rest of my work flow to become problematic (as they are pretty different in size).

Hi T.J.,
Thanks for chiming in and sharing what you're experiencing! I'm sorry you're running into issues with the eyedropper when using multiple monitors with different DPI settings.
After further testing post-Update 30, we were able to spot this recurrence and determined it is a known issue. For now, you'll have to keep similar DPI settings for the eyedropper to work correctly. I'm sorry if this is slowing you down, but we'll be sure to reach back out with updates to share!

Any update on this - I am experiencing the same issue. :(
Hi Lisa and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊
Thanks for reaching out for an update and letting us know that you are running into a similar issue.
Our team did some further testing and determined that the issue was specific to:
- Multiple monitors/display
- Monitors each using different DPI settings
Does this fit your experience as well? If so, please be sure the display settings are the same for your monitors.

I have associates experiencing the same issue. It used to work fine but she recently had a new laptop and install, and she has notice that when selecting either of the suggestions for eyedropper and she is having issues with both options. She has not had an issue prior. Can you advise what we should be checking? Another note; is if she uses the eyedropper in Microsoft word, ppt. it works as it should.

Just reporting that I am having the same issue with the eye dropper... I'm running windows 10, Dell Latitude E5470, and external monitor. My Storyline version is 3.54.25674.0
I'll try closing my laptop screen and see if that help.
Update:
Closed my laptop to work on my external monitor and that didn't work. and then tried unplugging my external monitor and that did work.
The only problem with this solution is my laptop monitor is pretty small and had to develop on. But for now I guess it's better then nothing,

I've encountered this issue using Storyline on a Windows PC.
I've managed to find a solution to get round the eyedropper not picking up colours within the slides. Use the snipping tool to take a cut of the colour you need, copy the snip and paste it into the slide. Move the pasted colour snip outside the slide and then use the eye dropper as normal. It will pick up on the colour you need. - TeresaVanderposCommunity Member

Hi Teresa,
Can you confirm if you have the following setup?- Multiple monitors
- Monitors each using different DPI settings
I can confirm that on the latest version of Storyline 360, if I keep similar DPI settings on my monitors then the color picker will work for me.

Hi John, I can confirm that I have multiple monitors. I think I looked at the right area for the DPI settings and they look the same except a slight refresh difference the laptop was 60 and the extra monitor was 59.
Hello Teresa!
If you change the DPI settings to the same, does that solve the issue with the eyedropper?

HI Lauren, I haven't used the eyedropper in the last few days so I will take a look, but no it did not fix the issue for me from last week.
