Completion issues with Rise courses
We have multiple learners across different instances experiencing the same issue:
A learner will work through their course and sees the sections checking off. Once they exit the course they are not seeing completion in Learndash. If the learner re-enters their course progress is saved and the sections are still checked off.
It seems the completion statement is sending but leaving the learner in this specific state.
The issue is not affecting all of our users and I unable to find a commonality between the users that are experiencing the issue.
The LMS we are using is Learndash.
We are exporting our courses as Tincan packages.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for jumping in here.
Hi Nova,
If you're still having trouble here I recommend you send your course to our Support Team. You can submit a case here.
Please reach out if you have any questions.

I am getting this problem with Rise in Moodle / Totara - we use IE11 in the organisation (that said - am experiencing it with Chrome aswell) can anyone let me know if there is any advice around this. The course is recording 100% and the settings for export are 100% complete - incomplete as no results slide, and Scorm 1.2 The 100% on Rise is not translating into a complete on the LMS.
Thanks
Thanks for letting me know, Steve. I created a sample course with those settings, and it marked as complete in our Moodle environment.
I recommend testing your output in SCORM Cloud:
- If it registers as completed there, reach out to your LMS support to understand why their environment isn't interpreting the completion properly.
- If your course doesn't register as completed in SCORM Cloud, we're happy to have a closer look at your course to find out why!

Many thanks - I tried in SCORM cloud yesterday as it happens and it did record a complete - but was wondering whether there were any browser issues people had come across.
Thanks

We have also been experiencing intermittent non-completion for some users being recorded in our SuccessFactors LMS. Would be interested if this is a Rise, LMS or browser issue.
Cheers Gerry
Hi Gerry! As a first step, I'd recommend testing your output in SCORM Cloud. If the completion is reported correctly there, that indicates the issue could be related to SuccessFactors LMS.
Let us know if you'd like some help with that testing!

Hi everyone,
we're using our home-build LMS but have some trouble sending the completion status of Rise to the LMS (using xAPI).
The Rise course shows complete, but our LMS is waiting for an event to happen (like Rise saying: Hey, I'm finished!) to mark the course as completed.
I tried testing one of our basic courses in SCORM Cloud to check the xAPI statements. It's a very basic course with a single page (even skipping the starting page and going directly into the course). There's nothing to click, so the learner just needs to scroll down a little bit and that's it. But I don't get a "completed" message in SCORM Cloud either, even though I published the course to track using course completion (100%).
So it seems the problem lies within the course. Can someone tell me what's wrong?
Edit: it seems skipping the "Start Course" page is causing some of this. Is there a way to get Rise to send complete without that button?
- KarlMullerCommunity Member
If you are using "Track using course completion: 100%", then the learner cannot skip anything.
They need to view all parts of the course (100%) to get a completed status.

Hi Karl,
thanks for answering.
My learners do in fact view 100% of the course - at least Rise's progress bar shows 100%.
The only thing they don't view is the starting page (index.html).If the index.html was part of the 100%, the course should be fine if I set the course completion to 90% - but I still don't get a "completed" message.
- KarlMullerCommunity Member
That is an odd situation Ina.
Is this the only course with that problem?
- InaDraijer-70dcCommunity Member
I tested it with a bunch of courses, but all courses tracking course completion seem to have the same problem - not sending the completion status once everything is viewed.
Since those courses are very short, all of them skip the index.html and don't have a side bar with additonal Rise lessons.
I'm only able to generate a "launch" -statement.
Edit: oh dear, the xAPI hinges on the index.html and its "start course" button. If I leave that page be, I can generate a "attempted" as well as a "passed" statement.
Is there any way to get xAPI to work without the index.html?
Our courses are very small, so that page is a completely unnecessary click. I just changed the launch page to the lesson in the tincan.xml.This is really important to us, so if you made it work, please respond!

Hey,
I experienced a similar issue when building a short course that only consisted of a video.
To get the course to register as complete within our LMS system I had to include an Exit Course button as the very last action for the learner to complete.
To do this, add button and in content select from the drop down menu Exit the Course (LMS Only)
Hope that helps!Sent from Mail for Windows 10

Hi, we are also facing the same issue. May i check if there is any place from where we can trigger the completion statement on each attempt rather than for the first time only.
Hello Wee Shen Tan!
When a learner re-takes a quiz multiple times within the same course attempt, we are going to send the most recent quiz score to the LMS upon exit. For example, if the learner fails a quiz first then passes it, we will send the most recent passing quiz score to the LMS.
Let me know if you have more questions about that!
- WeeShenTanCommunity Member
Hi Alyssa,
For my case, it is not a quiz. It is a pure xAPI e-learning course. The
learner has the 100% status reflected in the xAPI course but the completion
status is not sent to the LMS. This happened only to some users, not all.
We suspect it is due to network issues. However, if the learner re-attempt the course, even after going through the
pages again, the completion status is not send again. For this, we suspect
that it is due to the xAPI already has 100% and do not send the completion
status. My question is if there is any way we could make the course send the
completion status again at subsequent re-attempt?

It seems a few of us are experiencing this - is there a common thread with browser - our organisation is still on IE11 and get the problem on that - but not on Chrome and Edge?
Hi Steve!
Tell me more about what's happening in Internet Explorer 11. Is the course not sending completion data to your LMS? Have you seen this problem in your own testing?
Also, are you tracking by percent complete or by quiz result?
- SteveWass-e7172Community Member
Hi thanks – yep the course shows as complete in the Rise module – no quiz – just a straight forward read the sections and EXIT course.
In all cases that have come back to me it has been that the course shows 100% in the left hand side and that the LMS is not recording as complete.
Screen shots below shows a bit more detail.

Hi Steve,
It would help if we could see communication between the course and your LMS. I'm opening a case for you so we can dig into this a little further. You'll hear back from us soon!
