New in Rise 360: AI-Generated Captions (Beta)
We’re thrilled to introduce a new way to make your Rise 360 content more accessible with less effort. You can now generate closed captions for course videos with AI Assistant, saving time and effort while supporting learners of all abilities.
Whether you’re uploading a new video or working with existing media, AI Assistant can create captions automatically during upload or with a single click later. And if you want to make changes, the built-in captions editor makes it simple to fine-tune wording, timing, splits, merges, and more—all while previewing how your captions will appear in context. Check out the user guide to learn more.

AI-generated captions are in beta, and we’d love your feedback. After generating captions, you can use the thumbs-up or thumbs-down option that appears in the lower-right corner to let us know how it went. You can also share your experience in the comments below. Happy captioning!

This is a great new feature! I have used this a bit now for a few videos and the accuracy is excellent (albeit I am using AI voice over on my uploaded videos, so that might be helping with the accuracy).
I have come across one issue though. So far my videos are only in English, with VO in UK English. The auto-generated caption language though seems to vary in the videos between en_UK, en_GB, en_Aus, en_NZ. I can't see any settings where I can control this. All these videos have the same AI voice over character, so I'm not sure what's prompting this auto language selection. Any suggestions or ways to fix will be helpful!Hello KanikaPunj-9e1c,
Thanks for sharing your insight with us! We’re glad to hear the caption accuracy has been working well for you!
The caption language is automatically determined from the audio in each video. In some cases, especially with AI voiceovers, this can result in different English variants (such as UK, AU, or NZ) being detected, even when the voice sounds consistent. At the moment, there isn’t a way to manually select or lock the caption language. If that changes, we'll be sure to share any future updates in this thread so all are in the loop!
To help us look into this further, could you let us know exactly which AI voice you’re using for these videos, and whether it’s from our built-in voice library?
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Thanks LucianaPiazza
The videos were created in Canva and I uploaded them in Rise. The AI voice was one of the standard UK voices in Canva.
Do you have any roadmap for manually adding caption languages?Hi KanikaPunj-9e1c,
Thanks for sharing additional details about your videos. I've shared this with my team. While I don't have any updates on a roadmap for this specific feature request, I recommend keeping an eye on our Articulate 360 Feature Roadmap to see what we're working on next!

Please give an option to turn it off. It's as annoying as hell. Where I work we have a specific workflow for captions, and we definitely don't want to be sitting around wasting time waiting for a feature we never asked for attempting to guess our important text.
Hi JasonDeDonno,
Thanks for reaching out!
Here's how you can toggle off AI-Generated captions from within your video block.
- Select Content
- Select Replace Video
- Toggle off Generate Captions with AI
The toggle should remain off when inserting a new video. Please let me know if you have any questions!

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I don't seem to have a toggle to turn of Generate Captions with AI (Rise 360)

Hi, JD3!
You should only see this toggle if you have an active AI Assistant subscription. To help me understand what's happening, are you currently seeing AI-generated captions? If so, are you collaborating on this course with another user?

Hi Kelly and JD3
I'm having exactly the same issue and I'd also like to be able to turn this feature off. I am currently seeing AI-generated captions. I am not collaborating with another user.
Also, I didn't ask for an AI-generated caption assist. I'm just asking to load a video. (We handle CC with another method.) I don't have the option opt out of this feature. I also don't see a toggle to turn it off, just as JD3 is describing. And the "processing captions" function never actually completes. I tried "refreshing" the screen to get it to stop. When I preview the course, closed captioning is there, but there is no button for a person to choose to turn it off.
I attempted to add a vtt file, to see what would happen. I got the CC button back, and I can turn closed captioning on and off, but, of course, the AI-generated CC is still there - all the time.
What's confusing to me is that I perform this function regularly. To my knowledge, my subscription has not changed. While I do see AI "teasers" in the software, none of them have been functional. They all lead to an invitation to upgrade.
Today is the first day I'm experiencing this issue.

Kelly,
I sent a screenshot showing that Rise is "Processing captions," but I don't have a way to toggle that off. It will endlessly process. The video will finish processing, but I've waited up to 2 hours before refreshing the page in order to get the captions to stop processing.
Today's experience is a little different. Before, even though the caption processing was still in progress, I could see captions minus a CC button to turn them off. Today, the caption processing automatically starts (still no toggle to turn that off), but the captions don't show on the screen. This is good, because I can create captions the way I normally do, and I have a CC that gives my learners the option to turn them off.
Hello MABlack,
Thanks for the update and for sharing these details. I see that you're working with our colleague Carlo. I've passed this information along to him.
To keep everything in one place, we'll continue the conversation over in your support case.
