Nov 8 update BUG?

Hello,

I noticed since the latest update, when I published my course to Review360, on the latest Novermber 28 update.  There is a black screen with a player icon.  On my first slide, I have an animated GIF. When I reverted back to November 7 update, the black screen is not there. Please note, this never happened until this latest update. How can I remove the black screen with the play icon on the November 28 update or is it a bug in the new version?  I have attached the storyline file.

  • Hi Everyone!

I'm happy to share that we just released Storyline 360 (Build 3.83.31444.0) which includes the fix for the bug where a play button shows even if there is no media file on the first slide and there is a closed caption file.

Now all you need to do is update Storyline 360 in your Articulate 360 desktop app to take advantage of the newest bug fixes and features!

If you run into any issues, please don't hesitate to reach out to our team by submitting a support case.

  • Hi Ted!

Sorry to hear you've run into this issue! Happy to help!

Thank you for sharing your file. Testing the behavior on my end (Storyline 360 version 3.82.31354.0 via Windows Parallels on a Mac M1) I was unable to reproduce the same issue. After launching your course, the animated GIF from the first slide plays automatically without a black screen present. These were the results after testing in both Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome browsers.

To clarify, are you experiencing this issue across multiple browsers or is it specific to one?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

  • Hi Steven,

We have the same issue with our projects. The project was published in novembre for the client's review without this black screen. We just integrated some change et when we published with the new version, we had this black screen. We tryed to come back with previous version without success.

We have no sound and video on the first slide.

    Thanks for help.

    Nelly

      Hi Nelly!

Sorry to hear you've also run into this behavior!

I noticed you've also opened a support case and shared your file privately. Great move! Our development team is tracking a known bug in Storyline which causes:

      • Play button shows even if there is no media file on the first slide and there is a closed caption on other slides.

Our support engineers will test your file to confirm if you are being affected by the same issue. You should be hearing from them shortly!

We can continue troubleshooting through your support case to keep all information in one spot.

  • Steven,

Sorry for the late reply.  To answer your question. Yes, it happens on both Edge and Chrome.  Like I stated, when I reverted back to the previous version. I was able to publish my course with the animated gif working as it should.
