Right click causing behaviors on slide without right click triggers

Hello all,

I have an odd one. We use scrolling panels heavily in our Storyline projects as we mimic Salesforce so that our learners can practice using that tool. One slide is generally a large scrolling panel with a recreation of a Salesforce page. We often put hotspots in the background to give the learners feedback when they select the incorrect area of the tool. The triggers associated with those hotspots are generally on a "When the user clicks" trigger. However, we just noticed that when users right click on those hotspots, the screen will jump back up to the top of the hotspots. We have no right-click triggers associated with those hotspots or anything else on the slide. But, on every simulation, a right click on the hotspot will jump the slide back up to the top of the hotspot the learner right clicked. This is all happening within the large scrolling panel. I am not sure how to stop this from happening, as there are absolutely no right-click triggers associated with the slide at all. Has anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts?

Thanks for any help!

  • Hi AmandaShaffer-3,

Sorry to hear that you ran into this issue. For Storyline 360, we are currently tracking a known issue where a scrolling panel jumps to the top when an interactive object at the bottom that opens a layer is clicked. The behavior sounds similar to what you're experiencing so I'd like to test your project file to confirm. I can include this community thread in the bug report if I can verify that you're being affected by the same bug.

Would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here or privately by opening a support case for confirmation? We'll delete it when we're done!

  • Hello Jose,

Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly. Great to know you are tracking the issue that you mentioned. We definitely have noticed that issue as well and have tried to resolve it by using several smaller hotspots, which you will see in the copy of the project I am sharing in the support case. And, you're right, the right click behaves in very much the same way (except without having the layer open first and no trigger is involved). We did notice that if we assigned the layer to open with a right click, the jump in the scrolling panel did not happen. And, if we left clicked when the action was assigned to a right click, nothing happened, so everything worked as expected. We don't want to use the right click, but we were just playing around to see what would happen. So, we had a different experience using the "on right click" trigger vs "when the user clicks" trigger. I just wanted to share that in case it helped. I will submit a support case with the copy of my .story file to include in the bug report. Please let me know if you need any other information from me.
