Storyline 360 automatically uninstalls and reinstalls several times every day! Help!
Hello Articulate Community!
I'm experiencing a recurring Articulate Storyline 360 issue that is now impacting my work and timelines. My storyline 360 uninstalls and reinstalls several times (sometimes 5 or 6) every day!
I work in a corporate environment where installations are disabled, and only IT has the required permissions to install/uninstall an application. I use Storyline 360 extensively on a daily basis and recently I have been experiencing almost similar issue.
Our work machines have a workspace hub installed, similar to a play store where you can download/update apps - for which you have necessary permission in place.
We feel this may have something to do with the storyline issue - as I get installation pop-ups from the same hub. Our IT team could not identify or provide any alternate resolution for this issue.
This is what we are experiencing:
- I'm using the latest version of storyline, which I update regularly. That too uninstalls / reinstalls automatically in the background.
- My workday now starts with checking if storyline application is installed in my work machine before accessing any storyfile. If the answer is No, I must install it to access my storyfiles.
- If I try to access any storyfile without checking the installation status, it doesn't open - at all! I use Task Manager everytime, as it freezes mid-opening.
- If I am already working on a storyfile when it uninstalls in the background, my screen freezes, no matter what I do, and sometimes in an unsaved state. Only way to close it - Task Manager! I have lost couple of last minute edits, or even slides in the process.
Attaching few screenshots for reference.
Me and my peers are experiencing the same issue and we would be immensely grateful if you can share potential resolution to fix it.
Thank you!

Hello ShaheenSayed-12,
I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this behavior with Storyline 360! I'm glad to see EricSchaffer-d1 sharing their recommendations and suggesting that you open a case with us!
Since I don't see a case on our end, I've opened one on your behalf so we can continue the conversation with our Support Engineers! They'll be in touch via email shortly. Thanks for your patience!

I have been working with Storyline for several years now. I find most issues like this to be something the user is doing, either a file storage issue or their computer. I would look at a quick fix, purchase a low-cost laptop at Wal-Mart or Staples and put Storyline on it. Keep it off your company network so there is no chance of network interference. You can keep your files on the hard drive. See if this fixes your issues. At the same time, I would submit a case to Articulate and let them look at the issue. If this is causing you to lose work time and productivity, the cost of the laptop shouldn't be an issue. In today's world you time should be worth more than the computer. Plus, I'm sure it can be used for other things after this get fixed.
Good luck and let us know how this works out.
