"The project file could not be saved. One or more errors occurred."

Good morning, 

I've been building a fairly large course in storyline, and cannot save it after working on it. After attempting to save on a local drive, I get the message "The project file could not be saved. One or more errors occurred."

If I try to save on a network drive, I get a different error, "The project file could not be saved. Hashtable insert failed. Load factor too high. The most common cause is multiple threads writing to the Hashtable simultaneously. 

What do these things mean, and how do I clear these errors so I can save?

    Sorry to hear that you ran into this issue. 

    I'd like to ask a few questions to help clarify your experience. 

    • Were you working locally when making changes to your project file, or was it saved to a local directory when you attempted to save the file?
    • Were you working out of a directory that gets synced to an online location?
    • Have you tried saving to a new project file instead of overwriting the existing one?

    We recommend working locally when making changes to a Storyline project since working on a network drive has been known to cause issues with saving.

    If you're already working locally and are still experiencing issues when saving your project file, please open a case with our support team here so we can take a closer look at what's happening. In some cases, background applications such as Carbon Black security software has been known to cause issues with saving, so we'll need to gather more information from your system to identify what the exact cause is for your installation.

  • Hello! I just started having the same issue. However, my organization automatically backs up my Desktop, Documents and Pictures to OneDrive; can I even work locally if that's the case?

      Hello Heather, 

      I suspect the automated sync is what's causing the behavior for you since OneDrive has to access the files that it syncs to its folders. We recommend reaching out to your IT team to see if they can add a folder in your working directory that is excluded from the sync. 

      This official forum from Microsoft has some suggestions on how to disable the sync for specific folders which you can check out.
