Reporting issues Rise360 in Chrome
Sep 09, 2020
Hi,
We have recently been getting more and more issues of users that does not get a correct status of the Rise courses in our LMS.
The problem seems to not be affecting our Storyline courses. We have run some tests and find consistently that Chrome does not read the status at all. The LMS still says "not attempted" when we use Chrome. But if we try the same course in Internet Explorer instead, the course reports "passed/completed" on the first attempt.
Has there been any known issues like this recently? Or have you got any tips or ideas that can help us solve this? Chrome is the standard browser for our ca 3000 users.
Thanks in advance!
/Jessica

Hello, DOMETIC Academy!
Some LMS's won't receive completion data or resume properly unless you include an Exit Course link inside your Rise 360 course. Crystal shared more detail about that in her post here.
There are two ways you can add Exit Course functionality to your course:
Test the course again after adding the Exit Course button or link, and let me know if that resolves the issue!
Hi,
Thanks for reaching out.
The Exit course button does not solve the issue for us.
However, our LMS provider was able to do a small fix today that actually seems to have solved the problem.
Kind regards,
Jessica
That's great news, Jessica! By the way, replying via email includes your signature with contact information in the public forum. Feel free to edit your reply here!
Thank you Alyssa!
we are also getting this problem intermittently with Chrome not reporting to LMS, we have all the recommended settings including the exit course button.
Hi James! Is it possible some learners aren't using the Exit Course button, and are instead manually closing the browser window?
Also, it sounds like your LMS may need to update their system to account for the recent change in Chrome.
Chrome has deprecated a technology that was used by many LMSs to allow a course to communicate back to the LMS when the course browser window is closed (not using the Exit Course button). We made an update to Rise 360 in February to account for this change in Chrome.
If your LMS hasn't upgraded their system, or if you're using an older version of your LMS that doesn't include an update to address this change, the course cannot communicate progress or completion properly.
I would share this information with your LMS support team to see if you can get more information on their plans for updating!
Hello no the users tell me they have used the exit course button, and our Totara LMS suppliers assure us they have implemented updates to deal with the Chrome issue, latest update in June. The course was only published a few weeks ago.
Thanks for those details, James. I'd like to connect you with our Support engineers — they'll do all the can to help you resolve this issue!
I've opened a case for you, so you'll hear back from them soon.
Hi Alyssa,
We are having the same problem with JUNO platform.
Anyway I want to ask if you can elaborate on the first option you mentioned - setting the destination to Exit Course.
Sounds like it will be helpful for us.
Best Regards,
Yuval
Hi Yuval,
Look at the very bottom of the course EXPORT page where you can enable the Exit Course Link.
Hi Alyssa,
We are having the same problem with a Rise course not completing for some users and we have the exit course link at end of the course. We use cornerstone for our LMS.
The LMS records that the user opened the course, some times multiple time, and how much time was spent but when I proxy in the course has 0% complete.
Any thoughts or help?
Thanks,
Alison
Hi Alison! It looks like you've opened up a support case with us already. Jan has sent you an email, so please keep an eye out for that! He'll continue working with you there, and get you some quick assistance!
Hey Alison,
Was wondering what the solution to your issue of the course not sending the completion notification to Cornerstone was? We use Saba (owned by Cornerstone) and have had similar issues with this in the past.
Look forward to your response.
