Rise course not showing up in Safari

Jan 25, 2021

Rise is great, for creating courses quickly. Unless when published you run into trouble not seeing your course. On Safari that is.

Safari apparently implemented 'Prevent cross-site tracking' in its latest versions..and as default enabled that. When reading up on this i found out that all major modern browsers will enable this default in the near future. So all courses and all browsers at some point will do this.

Disabling this in your browser and you see your course normally...but this is no good! You cannot expect users to change settings to see your course. So this needs to be tackled inside Rise and Storyline's publishing. Make sure courses will work with 'Prevent cross-site tracking' mode enable.

Hi Math!

We did some research, and so far, users see this problem when they export for the web as a workaround for the LTI standard. Canvas LMS, for example, is sending a `GET` request, which is blocked by Safari. Our web output doesn't use that `GET` request.

That being said, Rise output isn't triggering this setting in Safari. This event is happening at the host level.

We haven't had any reports yet of users being affected when they published for LMS. If users are experiencing any trouble with this on Safari or any browser, we welcome them to open a support case with us to take a closer look. Thanks again for pointing out a resource to help out users in case they're having trouble with Safari!

Indeed published the course as Web, and indeed on Canvas LMS. As we donot need the Rise courses as Scorm because its mainly content and no quizzes i would love to find out a solution on the Rise end for this. So indeed opening up a support case for this. Its case #02614068
Thx Renz.
