Activation/Registration pops up every time I open Powerpoint

Jul 31, 2014

After I installed the Articulate 13 update every time I open a powerpoint file (or any of the products in the suite) Articulate wants me to activate & register my license. I am seeing the countdown for days remaining on my "trial" version and all I need to do is click through the screens to activate and register...BUT THIS IS ANNOYING!!!

Any suggestions as to how I might fix this?

Good Afternoon, Gene.

Please upload the fireball.log file from your computer to our server for review. The fireball.log is a text file created by Articulate software that records activation events on the local computer.

  • Launch this Upload Form in your web browser.
  • Enter your Full Name, Email address, and Product where indicated, fill out the "Prove you're human" prompt, and click Next.
  • Enter a short Description of the problem, and click the Add Files button.
  • When the browse window opens, copy and paste the following line of text into the 'File Name' field, and then click the Open button:

%appdata%\Articulate\Fireball\fireball.log

  • Add the URL of this Forum Thread to the Related Forums URL box, and click the Send request button.

We look forward to taking a look at your fireball.log file. Thanks!

Hi Donna. Yes I did resolve it. I got these steps from Articulate support.

It's a lot...but it did work! Good luck

1. Close PowerPoint and all Articulate programs.

2. Go to Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, and uninstall Articulate Studio '13.

3. Download and extract this zip file on your computer.

http://articulate-ap13-kb.s3.amazonaws.com/res13Cleanup.zip

Right-click the res13Cleanup.bat file and select Run as administrator. (This deletes the Studio registry keys and prepares the computer for a clean re-installation. It should only take a few seconds.)

4. Delete Fireball log:

-Click on Start > Run > type %appdata%\Articulate\Fireball\ and hit Enter -Delete the fireball file in this folder.

5. Please download/save on your computer the Update 2 installer:

6. Right-click the Studio '13 Update 2 installer and select Run as administrator to install it.

7. Activate Engage.

8. Exit and reopen Engage. Verify that you are not prompted to activate again.

9. Go to Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, and uninstall Articulate Studio '13 and uninstall Update 2 (Articulate Studio 13).

10. Delete Fireball log:

-Click on Start > Run > type %appdata%\Articulate\Fireball\ and hit Enter -Delete the fireball file in this folder.

11. Download Update 3 installer:

http://www.articulate.com/products/studio-13-update.php

12. Right-click the Studio '13 Update 3 installer and select Run as administrator to install it.

13. Activate Engage.

14. Exit and reopen Engage. Verify that you are not prompted to activate again.

15. Exit and reopen Quizmaker. Verify that you are not prompted to activate again.

16. Exit and reopen Presenter. Verify that you are not prompted to activate again.

I just updated to Windows 10 and now cannot open Quizmaker 13. I was able to "activate" my copy of Articulate Studio 13, but it appears to have activated a Trial copy. When I try to open QuizMaker I get the attached screenshots. I have a big project to do today and need to open Quizmaker. Please help! Thanks. Rebecca

Hi Rebecca,

Thanks for letting us know you were working with our Support team. I see that Robert was able to assist and advised you to reinstall your Studio '13 software and that got you situated and going. Also, the UI admin notice for Windows 10 is detailed here.

Gaye, if you're not prompting to be able to activate, and you'd like to work with our team we'd be happy to assist. You could also begin by going through the manual activation to start.
