Articulate Presenter 09 gives error when publishing:

Jan 02, 2014

I get this error when trying to publish in Presenter 09:  .ppta cannot be read because it was created with a newer version of Articulate Presenter.  I've deleted the articulate file and can publish once, then get the error again.  Thoughts?

Leslie,

I get the same error on the re-downloaded template (http://community.articulate.com/downloads/p/217906.aspx).  Tom stated it was good for older versions, but I'm not so sure.  I'm not sure how the PPT template affects the publishing part.  Like I said when I delete the articulate file and publish it will do it once, but not a second time.  And all the text boxes and images go out of whack, though that could just be a PPT 2010 thing.

Hi Trey,

Does this happen with any other project file, or only one free download? If it's only happening with this specific freebie, it might be that it was created in a newer version and isn't carrying over properly.

I'm glad to hear that it's allowing you to publish, once, at least.

Have you tried using "Save As" and saving it as a different presentation file?

Also, try to make sure that you have the file saved to your local hard drive. if you try to run any projects from a network drive, or any other external sources, you can run into some strange behavior.

Christine,

Yes only happens with this freebie, my other files still work just fine.  I have renamed and saved as both a .ppta and .pptx and doesn't matter.  If I do erase the articulate file and publish once everything (and I mean everything) is thrown out of whack between text boxes and pictures, etc.  All overlapping each other.

Hi there Tray,

I'm currently running Studio '13 on my primary machine, but I did try to publish the freebie on my '09 machine. I wasn't able to publish the project at all from this version - so you've already made it further than I can with this one.

I receive a notification that it was created in a newer version - that's it. No publishing process, etc.

I'm not sure if there's much that can be done for the actual file. Perhaps it can be carried over to a new file that's originated in '09 and saved with that version. Though I'm not a fan of copying and pasting slides between two open projects, that may help out with this.

If I try this out, I will come back to the thread on my '09 machine and share the file.

Thanks! :)

Hi Trey!

I selected all of the slides in the original file and copied them - I then pasted them into a new, blank presentation file and saved that file with a new name. Not something I typically like to do, but I'm glad to hear it helped!

The shifting may actually be tied to the original problem of the file being generated in a newer version. The only thing I can think of that may help, would be to cut out the content, paste it into a different program and then paste it back in - but that may end up causing more issues than helping.

I did see some movement when I previewed the original file, but I didn't add content after moving it to the new file.

Thanks, Christine.  I'll see if I can take my original file and copy into a new one.  I didn't think about it when I started it, but I went in and modified the template (Colors, etc) and built my presentation first, so a lot of work already put into it to have to start over.  I also downloaded the same template for Storyline, but I'd still have to rebuild everything.
