Audio Editor - Unhandled Exception - Invalid char. in path

May 17, 2013

When I try to export the audio, I get an error in several of my lessons - not all of them - and I have no clue where and what the "invalid character" is.

Needless to say, I cannot export the sound.

Thanks for any help.

Hey Juergen!

Can you please be sure you're following some basic rules to prevent strange behavior:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Or if you'd like, you can package up the project and send it our way so we can have a look. First, create an Articulate Presenter Package of your presentation as described here. Then upload the resulting zip file from your computer on the second page of this form, and we''ll attempt to diagnose what's happening when we receive your upload.

Thanks!

OK Peter,

I work with drive D: it is a local drive.

The path is less than 260 char.

The only special char I use is the underscore.

I have reduced the presentation (deleted one slide at a time) after deleting the video clips. However, I noticed that after deleting all the video clips and saving the presentation and starting over (restarting PowerPoint), the Audi Editor is still unpacking the videos.

I have also just created the zip file which seemed to take forever and three days.

Sent the zip file as per your request.
